Bio

Janet is a retired DCFS professional with almost 30 years’ experience in child welfare and day care licensing. She most recently served as the Day Care Licensing Statewide Child Care Development Block Grant Coordinator. It was Janet’s previous role as a home day care licensing representative where she found her passion. 

Janet served 21 years working with home day care providers in the city of Chicago and suburban Cook County. She thoroughly enjoyed working with home day care providers to assist them in building their business and creating a safe, happy, and learning environment for children. As a licensing representative, Janet was also tasked with providing professional development training to day care providers and DCFS licensing staff.

Janet earned her master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is a licensed clinical social worker. Janet believes in developing and implementing new approaches to empower individuals to accomplish their personal and professional goals. She feels strongly about working with and strengthening existing systems to more effectively meet individual, family, and community needs.
